To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, and to celebrate the enduring importance of French-American intellectual exchange and friendship, the Directors of the Richard Lounsbery Foundation established a short-term Fellowship Program supporting early-career scholars undertaking sabbatical research abroad. Open to French and American citizens, the program encouraged work in areas of historical and scientific interest to the Foundation, with Fellows conducting research in the country opposite their citizenship. The competition is now closed, and the recipients are listed below.

The 2026 Richard Lounsbery French-American Fellows and their host institutions are:

·       Dr. Arthur Laudrain, Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) at Stanford University

·       Dr. Ariel Levine, Paris Brain Institute

·       Dr. Audrey Looby, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Université Grenoble Alpes

·       Dr. Lauren A. Sgro, Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Marseille
