LOUNSBERY 250 PRIZE

On May 21, the Académie des sciences and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences co-hosted a French-U.S. Symposium celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the enduring partnership between France and the United States.

In recognition of the Richard Lounsbery Foundation's longstanding commitment to advancing French-American scientific collaboration, a distinguished jury awarded prizes to four pairs of scientists whose work exemplifies the spirit of international cooperation and scientific excellence. The awards were designed to foster new transatlantic partnerships and encourage innovative research across disciplines.

The 2026 award recipients were:

• Martin Leguil (Université de Picardie Jules Verne and École Polytechnique) and

  Davi Obata (Brigham Young University)

• Stéphane Mangin (Université de Lorraine, Institut Jean Lamour, CNRS) and Eric Fullerton (Center for Memory and Recording Research, University of California San Diego)

• Marcel Babin (Laboratoire d'Océanographie de Villefranche) and Manu Prakash (Stanford University)

• Stéphanie Lenck (Paris Brain Institute) and Guido Falcone (Yale School of Medicine)
